Frequently Asked Questions

What is breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation is some of the most popular cosmetic surgery performed by NOW Cosmetic Surgery. The procedure uses a synthetic implant inserted behind the breast to alter the shape and size of your breasts

How long does breast augmentation surgery take?

The operation time varies but generally takes up to one hour.

How does breast augmentation work?

Your NOW Cosmetic Surgery approved surgeon will begin by making a small incision in the skin around 3 to 5cm long. The position of this incision will be discussed at your initial consultation, however it is usually made in the crease below the breast, in the underarm or around the nipple. Your surgeon will then create a pocket between the breast tissue and chest muscle or behind the chest wall muscle, depending upon which option has been deemed most suitable for you at consultation. Your desired breast size and shape, your skin and your body shape all play a part in deciding where the implant should be placed. The implant will then be inserted and the incision stitched, usually using dissolvable stitches.

Where will the implants be placed?

Implants are placed either on top of the pectoralis muscle – a subglandular insertion – or partially beneath the pectoralis muscle, known as a submuscular insertion.

Where is the incision most commonly made?

Your NOW Cosmetic Surgery clinician will decide which incision best suits your body, the implant chosen and your body type. Incisions are most commonly made in the crease under your breast, know as the inframammary, however other options are also available.

Will I be sedated during my breast augmentation procedure?

Breast augmentation is performed under general anaesthetic. Sedation in any NOW Cosmetic Surgery procedure will only ever be performed by certified anesthesiologists.

How long will the results of my breast augmentation last?

The results of breast augmentation are permanent, as is the confidence boost that comes with having the curves you have always coveted.

What problems can breast augmentation surgery address?

There are many reasons why women choose breast augmentation surgery. Often, it is used to increase the size of small breasts or to balance asymmetrical breasts. Breast augmentation surgery can also be used to increase volume in the breasts after child birth or weight loss. Why ever you choose breast augmentation with NOW Cosmetic Surgery, you’re promised a brand new, more confident you.

What are breast implants made of?

While all implants have a silicone elastomer shell, they are filled with either silicone gel or saline.

Are there different breast implant shapes available?

There are two shapes available; round and tear-shaped. Round implants create volume in the upper section of the breast for a more lifted look. Tear-drop shaped implants look more natural. Your NOW Cosmetic Surgery specialist will discuss the best option for you at your UK-based consultation.

How do I decide which breast implant is right for me?

A NOW Cosmetic Surgery consultation is the first step in deciding which breast implant is right for you. Your UK-based consultant will discuss your expectations for the procedure, including what size and shape of implant would suit your natural body size and shape. They will also be able to discuss the ‘profile’ of your implant, depending how subtle or prominent you would prefer your result.

What kind of anaesthesia is used for breast augmentation?

Our world-leading surgeons perform all breast augmentation surgery under general anaesthetic. You will remain in hospital overnight, before being chauffer driven to your luxury accommodation by a NOW Cosmetic Surgery representative.

How long is the expected recovery time for breast augmentation?

The recovery time for breast augmentation surgery varies from person to person, however, most people can expect to be back at work within 5 to 7 days, depending on your job. A full recovery can be expected within six weeks.

How does the Brazilian Butt Lift work?

The Brazilian Butt Lift removes fat from problem areas such as the tummy, love handles, lower back and hips, and transfers it to your buttocks. The procedure creates a perfect hourglass figure, giving you a small waist and shapelier, more sculpted behind.

There are three steps to transforming your figure using the Brazilian Butt Lift and nobody in the world does it as well as our surgeons here at NOW Cosmetic Surgery. The first step sees viable fat extracted from two or three areas around the body using a procedure called Vaser Liposculture. A revolutionary development on traditional liposuction, Vaser is incredibly popular thanks to reduced downtime and faster healing compared to more invasive procedures. By amplifying the natural process of breaking down fat cells, Vaser allows for maximum sculpting of the area. Fat is extracted in such a way as to contour the silhouette, slimming and shaping the back, stomach, love handles and thighs, and beginning the process of creating the hourglass shape.

The second stage in the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure requires the fat that has been removed to be purified. Purification and centrifugation will process the fat, with only the highest quality fat cells qualifying for re-injection into the buttocks for augmentation by your surgeon. For example, while 2000cc of fat may be removed from other areas, only around 1000cc of that will prove high enough quality to be reintroduced back into the buttocks. This uncompromising technique implemented by NOW Cosmetic surgeons promises a Brazilian Butt Lift that doesn’t just look fantastic but is long-lasting too.

The final step in the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure sees the reintroduction of the fat cells, only this time those curves will be right where you want them. Tiny droplets of fat are transferred into the buttocks in very small amounts at a time, inserted in various places around the subcutaneous regions of the buttocks to create a smooth, natural result and volume where you need it most. The amount of fat injected into each buttocks is tailored to each individual, creating a bespoke result that suits your aesthetic aims and lifestyle.

Combined, these three processes will smooth and shape your body into the one you have always wanted.

What problems can the Brazilian Butt Lift address?

The benefits of the Brazilian Butt Lift with NOW Cosmetic Surgery are two fold; firstly, you’ll experience a smoother silhouette and slimmer waist, hips and lower back, something we’re all in search of. The buttocks themselves will be fuller, rounder and firmer, making the butt lift the perfect solution for flat, sagging, disproportionately small and misshapen buttocks.

What can I expect before my Brazilian Butt Lift procedure?

At NOW Cosmetic Surgery we are dedicated to providing safe cosmetic surgery abroad. As a result, there are stringent pre-operative requirements in place ahead of any Brazilian Butt Lift procedure. Your UK consultant will advise you of the requirements prior to surgery but these generally include:

  • A BMI (Body Mass Index) below 35kg/m2 to reduce the risk of post-op complications
  • Instruction to stop smoking four weeks prior to surgery to aid ability to heal
  • Instruction to stop taking all aspirin products one week prior to surgery
  • Undergo a medical history and physical test plus a CBC blood test
  • Any ongoing medical issues must be disclosed and surgery must be cleared by your GP
  • Nil by mouth after midnight on the evening prior to surgery
  • Pregnancy test must be undertaken on the morning of the surgery

What can I expect after my Brazilian Butt Lift procedure?

The beauty of travelling abroad for a Brazilian Butt Lift with NOW Cosmetic Surgery is that you can recover in peace in the surrounds of our exclusive villa accommodation in beautiful Istanbul. Having undergone the procedure, you will be escorted to your luxury accommodation in absolute comfort, where a highly-qualified team will be on hand to aid your recovery during your stay.

Following the correct recovery process after a Brazilian Butt Lift is imperative for healthy healing and long-lasting results. Fat cells are incredibly delicate and you can expect the following instructions immediately after the procedure in order to enable the transferred cells to adjust appropriately:

  • Bed rest at our luxury villa for the first week
  • Follow-up consultation with your surgeon one week post-op
  • No sitting directly on your buttocks during the first two weeks post-op
  • No driving for two weeks
  • Minimum two weeks off work, depending upon how strenuous your role
  • Use of a pressure relief cushion during your third week of recovery
  • Compression garments to be worn on the area for eight weeks to control swelling

Will I be sedated during my Brazilian Butt Lift?

Most Brazilian Butt Lifts are performed under IV sedation as opposed to general anesthesia. IV sedation poses less risk than other options, enables faster recovery and substantially reduces the risk of side effects such as fat embolism. Sedation in any NOW Cosmetic Surgery procedure will only ever be performed by certified anesthesiologists.

Surgeons is second to none and their knowledge is unrivalled when it comes to creating smooth, natural Brazilian Butt Lift results.

How long will my Brazilian Butt Lift last?

The Brazilian Butt Lift is a permanent procedure, provided the process is performed correctly. Long lasting results depend on careful harvesting, processing and re-injection of the fat cells, another reason why finding an experienced surgeon is so important. Your surgeon at NOW Cosmetic Surgery has completed hundreds of Brazilian Butt Lifts and is considered one of the most knowledgeable in the world when it comes to the procedure, so you can rest assured that the results will look fantastic and last a lifetime.

What happens if I lose weight after a Brazilian Butt Lift?

We all gain and lose a few pounds from time to time but a Brazilian Butt Lift shouldn’t be affected by any fluctuations in your weight. Fat transfers are very long-lasting provided you follow the correct aftercare procedures, so you should be in possession of your new killer curves forever.

What risks are associated with the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure?

Every cosmetic surgery procedure comes with a small risk of complications. Those that may result from Brazilian Butt Lift surgery range from swelling and bruising of the operated areas to numbness and pain, stretch marks and hematoma.

More serious complications of a Brazilian Butt Lift are incredibly rare but it is important to choose a well-qualified, knowledgeable surgeon like those at NOW Cosmetic Surgery in order to avoid any unnecessary risk.

Pulmonary fat embolism is the most serious complication associated with the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure, occurring when the injected fat finds its way into the veins and pulmonary system. Evidence suggests that fat embolisms occur when the fat is injected deep below the muscle, which is why choosing a surgeon who has completed many hundreds of the procedures and knows which danger zones to avoid is absolutely critical.

Why use NOW Cosmetic Surgery for your Brazilian Butt Lift?

VIP Service from start to finish

At NOW Cosmetic Surgery, the service we provide can only be described as first class and we believe that a high-end approach to cosmetic surgery abroad shouldn’t come with a price tag to match. From your initial consultation with a UK based specialist to the VIP transfers to and from the airport, the accommodation in a gated international golf resort and the service you can expect to receive at the five-star clinic in Istanbul where procedures are performed, every element of the NOW Cosmetic Surgery approach is without compromise.

How does rhinoplasty work?

The rhinoplasty procedure is entirely unique depending on the patient and their goals for the outcome. There are various options available. Your surgeon may perform rhinoplasty inside the nose or via a small external incision between your nostrils, from where he will readjust the bone and cartilage accordingly. Other procedures may require cartilage or bone to be harvested from inside your nose or other areas of the body in order to change the structure of the nose more substantially.

Ultimately, rhinoplasty involves relocating, removing and reshaping the nose bone and cartilage to create the shape you desire. The procedure will be performed under general anaesthetic and you may be required to spend one night at the LIV Hospital Istanbul’s ultra-modern suites before being driven to your villa for recovery.

What problems can rhinoplasty address?

People undergo rhinoplasty for many reasons. Some seek to straighten a bump in the bridge of the nose or to smooth the overall profile of the nose, while others aim to reduce larger nostrils and even to clear obstruction caused by injury that is having an impact on breathing. Rhinoplasty can address many problems and your own expectations will be discussed at your UK consultation prior to surgery.

Recovering after your rhinoplasty procedure

After undergoing rhinoplasty, you will be required to wear a small splint for around the first seven days post-op. The splint will protect and support the nose as the bone and cartilage settles into position. It is totally normal to experience some discomfort in the days following a rhinoplasty procedure and your NOW Cosmetic Surgery representative will be on hand to assist with medication and pain relief throughout your time with us.

It is normal to experience some swelling and bruising in the two weeks following rhinoplasty too. Once your splint has been removed, we advise occasional use of a cold compress to reduce swelling and discomfort.

Provided your role isn’t especially active, you should be fine to return to work after around a week. The results of a rhinoplasty procedure will be most apparent once the nose is fully healed, something that could take up to six months. That said, many rhinoplasty patients notice a difference immediately once the swelling and bruising subsides.

Why should I choose Turkey for my FUE hair transplant?

Turkey stands at the forefront of hair transplant technology and advancements in FUE, with over 70,000 procedures carried out in 2017 alone. FUE has advanced and changed significantly in recent years, refined with revolutionary technology, techniques for results that are better than ever.
With over $1 billion in hair transplant procedures carried out in 2017 alone, Turkey has established itself as a leading destination for advanced cosmetic medical procedures.

Why is the best choice of the surgeon so important?

The FUE procedure is the most technologically advanced hair transplant treatment ever created. It is much less invasive than traditional procedures, with minimal downtime and a more natural result. The success of your FUE treatments depends entirely upon the experience of your surgeon, which is why NOW Cosmetic Surgery works only with the most experienced and knowledgeable in the world. Our surgeons perform hundreds of FUE procedures every year and are leading figures in the hair transplant industry. Nobody knows the procedure better. Combine the skill of our surgeons with our MaxGraft™ guarantee and you can be confident of a result that takes years from your appearance and boosts your confidence. You'll never look back.

What can I expect before my FUE hair transplant?

A FUE hair transplant with NOW Cosmetic Surgery could be life-changing and your first step to a great head of hair begins with a UK consultation. Our team of specialists, many of whom have undergone the procedure themselves, will determine your expectations for the procedure and your eligibility based on factors such as age, family history and type of hair loss. Having experienced the procedure, NOW Cosmetic Surgery specialists are uniquely equipped to answer your questions first-hand too, so they'll be able to address any niggling concerns about any aspect of the process, from the procedure itself to the industry-leading clinic and luxury accommodation.

How many FUE hair transplant operations will I need?

Typically, most people will be very satisfied with the result of just one FUE hair transplant procedure. In some instances, however the extent of hair loss may be such that an additional operation around a year after the first is required.

The specialist at your initial UK consultation will use something called the Norwood Hamilton Scale to ascertain the extent of your hair loss and the number of hair transplants required. Generally, those with a Norwood score of five or more may not have quite enough available donor hair for one FUE treatment to suffice. Your NOW Cosmetic Surgery specialist will discuss the options available during your consultation and our MaxGraft™ Guarantee means our surgeons will always transfer the maximum possible amount of grafts to create a fantastic final result.

What is the maximum amount of grafts?

NOW Cosmetic Surgery offers a unique MaxGraft™ Guarantee. We promise to move the maximum amount of grafts we can, based on the assessment of the surgeon and the availability of donor hair. The average amount of grafts transferrable is 4000 but this can be above 4000. Taking too many grafts could be counterproductive, with excessive removal from the donor area looking noticeable. Taking the right amount will create the very best, most natural-looking results.

How long will the operation last?

Usually the FUE hair transplant procedure takes around six hours and you will be awake throughout. The NOW Cosmetic Surgery team will be on hand throughout the day to provide assistance, including lunch and refreshments.

Is the FUE hair transplant procedure painful?

The whole of the area being treated will be under local anaesthetic so you will feel no pain during the procedure. Some slight pinpricks will be felt during the administering of the local anaesthetic but no other pain will be experienced, with many patients even choosing to sleep during the procedure.

What should I bring on the day?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing on the day of your procedure, including a wide-neck top that can be removed without catching the newly-implanted hairs following the procedure. Don’t forget to bring some entertainment too, such as a book, iPad or music to pass the time during the operation.

Will I stay in hospital overnight?

No. A member of the NOW Cosmetic Surgery team will be on hand to transport you back to your villa following the procedure. Once there, the staff will be on hand to assist with everything from arranging meals and drinks, to ensuring dressings are changed and medication is dispensed on time. All you have to do is relax.

A HAIR TRANSPLANT TIMELINE: WHAT TO EXPECT

To find out more about every stage of a FUE procedure and the recovery process, take a look at our hair transplant timeline.

Two weeks prior to the procedure

Stop taking any hair loss medication, such as Minoxidil.

On the day of the procedure

Take a private transfer from your luxury accommodation to the LIV Hospital Istanbul.
The procedure usually takes around six hours, so dress for comfort and remember to bring some entertainment to pass the time. Following the procedure, a NOW Cosmetic Surgery representative will be on hand to return you to the villa and arrange refreshments and assistance with medications.
The evening of the procedure will bring some slight discomfort but this is well managed with the medication that we provide. A bandage will cover the donor area and it is advised that you sleep in the sitting position for at least the first three nights following the procedure.

The day after the Procedure

The dressing on the donor area will be changed and the scalp will be carefully washed for the first time by our staff using the correct products to care for the transplanted hair. All medication and products required following the procedure are included within NOW Cosmetic Surgery’s all-inclusive price of £2,995.

3-7 days after the procedure

The bandage covering the donor area has now been removed and the donor area will start to recover quickly. The small scabs will begin to flake off after around three days and the area should start to look normal after about day seven.

Some swelling may occur around your face. This is caused by some of the liquids used during the procedure being absorbed by the body. It is completely normal and will subside by day five.

During this stage, the transplanted hair will start to fall out! Don't worry, this is completely normal. The hair will go into shock but it is the implanted follicle that is the important thing here. The transplanted hair will start to grow from the third month onwards.

Two weeks after the procedure

The donor area will look completely normal but may be itchy. Special creams that incorporate aloe vera can help soothe the affected area. Take a look at our store for the best aftercare products available.
The transplant area will have settled down and the transplanted hair will have mostly fallen out. The area may still appear red and blotchy in appearance but this is completely normal and will be barely noticeable by around week four.

One month after the procedure

Things will have settled down significantly and your hair will be almost back to pre-transplant appearance.

Three months after the procedure

The transplanted hair will start to grow! At first the hair is white and baby fine in appearance. This is normal and the hair will grow and strengthen over the coming months. Around 40% of the new hair strands begin to grow 4-6 months following the procedure.

Six months after the procedure

New hair growth will become very noticeable and people will start to comment and be amazed by your new appearance, natural results meaning that many of them will comment on your youthful look while not quite being able to put their finger on just what it is that looks so good! Around 60% of the growth will be apparent between 6-8 months.

Ten months after the procedure

Most of the transplanted hair will be visible and the hair will look strong and natural in appearance. You will look and feel amazing, your youthful looks and confidence restored.
Hair transplant procedures for men really can change the way you feel about yourself.

What can I expect after my FUE hair transplant procedure?

The beauty of undergoing an FUE hair transplant with NOW Cosmetic Surgery is that you can combine a life-changing cosmetic treatment with a relaxing stay spent in one of the world’s most exciting cities. There's no better way to recover than at one of our luxurious retreats, with a dedicated team on hand every step of the way.

When can I go back to work?

The area treated during the hair transplant procedure will be more stable within a couple of days, with the slight blood loss often experienced having stopped by this point. Patients may choose to fly home at this time without any problems, although any strenuous activity is prohibited and dusty environments must be avoided.

Can I smoke after the procedure?

We strongly recommend no smoking within three days of the procedure but up to 7 days is preferred.

Can I drink alcohol?

No, we recommend that you do not drink alcohol within the first three days following the procedure.

What else should I avoid after the procedure?

Anything strenuous that can cause excitement should be avoided in the first three days following your procedure. This includes sex and sport.

When will the scabs heal?

The scabs from the donor area will be the first to clear and this usually happens within the first four days. The area that has received the donor's hair takes a little longer to clear but should be scab-free by around 7-10 days after the procedure.

How long will the redness last on my scalp?

The redness of the scalp is completely normal and will slowly disappear after two to three weeks.

Why has my hair fallen out?

The hair transplant procedure causes a great deal of stress on the transplanted follicles and the shock of this stress causes the hair to fall out. Usually, this happens to most of the transplanted hairs within the first 3-7 days after the procedure. Patients who have had a previous hair transplant may experience some shock hair loss in follicles that are in the receiving area; this is completely normal. The hairs that have fallen out will start to grow after about three months.

When will my hair start to grow back?

The transplanted hair will start to grow back from about the third to the fourth month following the procedure. The hairs will come through as faint white hairs initially but will strengthen as time passes and results will be very noticeable by the sixth month. The full effect of the transplant will be most noticeable after around one year following the procedure.

When can I cut or dye my hair?

We recommend that you do not cut your hair until after the second week following the procedure, while you should avoid dying your hair for six weeks.

When can I have another hair transplant?

For people with significant baldness before their first hair transplant, a second transplant may be needed to thicken the hair and increase the density. The second operation can be carried out one year after the original procedure.

The Norwood Scale

Norwood Scale

The Norwood Hamilton Scale was created in the 1950s by Dr James Hamilton and it remains the most widely used standard for classifying baldness and hair loss in men.
Our UK-based specialist consultants will use the Norwood Scale at your initial consultation to determine what results you can expect from the FUE hair transplant procedure and to establish how this meets your expectations.

Norwood 1

Very little to no visible sign of hair loss.

Norwood 2

Hair loss has begun to become visible in the form of hairline recession forming a triangular pattern in the temporal areas commonly known as the front corners.

Norwood 3

The hair loss pattern has deepened in the temporal areas to the extent that the front corners are barely covered or are fully exposed with no hair growth.

Norwood 3 Vertex

The Norwood 3 Vertex stage sees hair loss deepen to involve early hair thinning at the vertex, known as the crown area.

Norwood 4

Recessive hair loss at the front corners has become progressively severe to create general recession throughout the frontal region. Hair loss in the crown area has increased to form a bald spot and a bridge of hair may now divide the two areas.

Norwood 5

Hair loss is further enlarged across all areas and hair density is reduced. The bridge of hair dividing the areas has also thinned. At this stage on the scale, a second hair transplant procedure may be required.

Norwood 6

The bridge of hair dividing the areas has disappeared to leave fully bad areas. Some hair remains on the back and sides to create a horseshoe pattern.

Norwood 7

The most advanced hair loss stage in the Norwood Hamilton Scale sees hair receded to above the ears and base of the scalp. The only remaining hair is a narrow horseshoe pattern with decreasing density.

What is vaser liposuction?

Vaser liposuction, also known as liposculpture, is a revolutionary version of conventional liposuction. The procedure has been designed to break down excess fat using ultrasound technology, tackling problem areas that many find difficult to tone. If exercise and a healthy diet haven’t created the definition you are looking for in your physique, vaser liposuction may be for you.

Why should I choose vaser liposuction over conventional liposuction?

The revolutionary procedure with NOW Cosmetic Surgery causes less damage to the surrounding tissue and as a result substantially less bruising and swelling. Less tissue trauma also means a reduced recovery time.

Can I expect any bruising with vaser liposuction?

Vaser liposuction is very gentle but some bruising following the surgery should still be expected. The amount depends on the size of the area that is undergoing treatment and on your body’s individual reaction to the procedure.

What problem areas can vaser liposuction address?

People are using vaser liposuction to address a number of problem areas that exercise and a diet high in protein are unable to shift. NOW Cosmetic Surgery are able to offer vaser liposuction to create more defined calves, stomach and arms, and even to tighten the look of smaller areas such as the chin. Some of the most popular areas for vaser liposuction is the chest and ‘love handles’.

Can vaser liposuction be performed on multiple areas in one operation?

Your NOW Cosmetic Surgery specialist will go through which areas you would like to address at your initial consultation, but it is often possible to treat more than one area during the same procedure.

What anaesthetic is used for vaser liposuction?

Vaser liposuction is routinely performed under local anaesthetic, though it may be possible for you to undergo general anaesthetic should you prefer.

Will the fat return after vaser liposuction?

Sadly, liposuction cannot prevent weight gain and the fat will return if your diet features excess calories and a lack of exercise. However, most people find that they are very motivated to maintain a healthier lifestyle in order to keep the fat off following the procedure.

Will I be left with scars following the vaser liposuction procedure?

Your surgeon will use very small puncture wounds to insert the cannula used for vaser liposuction and these will heal to a small scar. At the initial UK-based consultation, a NOW Cosmetic Surgery vaser liposuction specialist will advise on the nature and location of the incisions.

Will I still need time off work with vaser liposuction?

Vaser liposuction is much kinder to the body than conventional liposuction but you should still expect some amount of swelling and bruising. When you have vaser liposuction with NOW Cosmetic Surgery, you will spend time a short time recovering from the procedure in luxury accommodation. Upon your return to the UK, you may return to work as normal.

How does vaser liposuction recovery compare to traditional liposuction?

With vaser liposuction, you can expect to be back at work within two-to-three days, compared to the two-to-three weeks associated with conventional liposuction. This is part of the procedure’s huge appeal.

Will I see the results of my vaser liposuction immediately?

While some people notice a difference immediately, the true results of your vaser liposuction surgery won’t be obvious until the initial swelling has settled. This usually takes around six weeks but it may take up to a year to see the full effects.

How soon can I exercise after vaser liposuction?

At NOW Cosmetic Surgery, we recommend waiting around six weeks before returning to exercise or very strenuous activity.
